Drinks per person for your private event

Posted on Sunday, September 27, 2015 2:18 AM

We are frequently asked how many drinks should be purchased for an event including weddings.

As a rule of thumb you should calculate 1 drink per person per hour. 1 bottle of wine serves 5, 1 bottle of 750ml liquor serves 18 and a regular keg serves 165.

Hopefully you know your guests pretty well and should know what they drink the most whether its liquor, wine or beer and should order accordingly.

We hope this helps and happy planning from Superior Events

Your engaged! Now what?

Jay Villa : Posted on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 12:12 PM

Congratulations! You are engaged.

Have you told your family and friends?

Now what?

You and your fiance/fiancee and or possibly your parents, depending on who may be helping pay for the wedding should take time to sit down and talk budgets.

Do not pick out a date until you know your budget.

Your budget can determine where and when you can have your wedding unless you are just going to elope.

Once you come up with the budget you can get started and your wedding planning.

Now the work begins. You can plan this your self with your fiance and best friends or you can hire a planner or at least talk to a consultant this all will depend on how well you can handle stress.

Planning a wedding is not as easy as most people think. A LOT of details go into this from choosing a venue that is within your budget to negotiating food, dj, officiant, photographer, videographer, floral, limos, decor, linens, china, cake etc... and between all of that you might want to go pick out your wedding attire.

If a full planner is not in your budget remember that paid consultations are more affordable and can help you get a lot of this together without over stressing and having to do all the research by yourself.

For now just enjoy wearing that ring and get passed the holidays before you start planning your wedding.

CONGRATULATIONS from all of us here at Superior Events.

Hidden Wedding Venues of Northern California

J.Villa : Posted on Monday, October 20, 2014 12:07 PM

Your engaged and ready to start planning your wedding, now what?

First thing you should start with is your venue. If you are locked on to a date you must work and finding a venue that works for you, your date and the amount of guests you are planning to have.

In Northern California we have so many more venues than most of the country. Being wine country almost every winery has rental space for your wedding but which one do you choose? Do not get overwhelmed!

What is your taste? Do you want the urban feel to your wedding or wine and country? This is something you should discuss with your fiance to make sure you both are on the same page. Now lets talk budget, your budget is definitely going to come into play here, choose sing the right venue for your budget is key. If you over spend on your venue and you have a smaller budget you are going to have to cut on decor and food and what type of photographer you might want.

Now do not let this scare you. Since we are in Northern California you can definitely find a venue at a good price, you many have to do lots of foot work but they are out their. (Take note, if you do not want to do all the foot work this is where you might want to consider hiring a wedding planner).

On average you should budget $2500 to $5000 for your venue. Think city buildings, library city halls etc, these are lower cost venues but can be very very nice. If you have to have a winey wedding and your budget is not quite NAPA pricing you should come out to the Central Valley. Yes its not quite Napa and San Francisco but unless you are right in the city you are not going to be able to tell much of a difference.

Hidden Gems of Central Valley:

Brookside Country Club; Most people think you have to be a member to have a wedding at a country club, well you are in luck, YOU DONT. Country Clubs welcome events to their property, this is a good way for them to make more revenue. Brookside Country Club in Stockton is one of those hidden gems, yes i know your thinking OMG its in Stockton. Before you say no way to something in Stockton you should really take a look at the area where its located at.

Brookeside is an upscale neighborhood in North Stockton off of March Lane and Highway 5, it has a Courtyard by Marriott right next to the Country Club so you and your guests can walk right over if you wanted to. Pricing for the space and the food is lower than most places and the views are to die for, you and your budget will not regret it.

Central Valley Wineries: If you always dreamed of your wedding at a vineyard but do not want to spend the very large pricing to rent a place go out to Lodi, Clarksburg South Sacramento etc. There is so many wineries out here that you will not know what to do but because their is so many of them you will find great pricing on venue rentals.

Their is a large variety of venues that are on or next to wineries and you will enjoy looking at them and the bonus is that you will enjoy tasting their wines too.

The Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg is definitely a place you should check out. I recently was their with some friends doing some wine tasting and OMG this place is amazing. Its a rustic yet luxurious old sugar mill that is now holds several wineries within its walls. The large back grass area is the perfect setting for your ceremony and the inside will host your reception. The inside is all old original exposed brick that you will fall in love with.

I hope this has opened your eyes to what you should be looking for and if you have any questions or need help finding your hidden gem please feel free to contact us or any other wedding planner so we may better help you.
